About the project

Built for people who can read French
but can't understand a word Québécois say

Standard French and Quebec French are two very different things the moment someone opens their mouth. This site exists to bridge that gap — a community-built reference for the contractions, slang, sacré expressions, and joual that textbooks never cover.

Why this exists

Moving to Quebec and understanding written French is one thing. Sitting across from a local at a dep and understanding "Chu tanné d'attendre, ostie" is a completely different skill. This project started as a personal vocabulary dump and grew into a shared resource.

If you've ever nodded along to a conversation in Montreal while understanding maybe 40% of it — this is for you.

Built by

This project was built by Swayam, a CS student at Concordia University living the exact problem this site solves. It's open, community-driven, and always a work in progress — just like learning French.
